Author: The Plastic Pipe Institute
Date: 15-Nov-2005

Thermoplastic pipes generally are resistant to attack from many chemicals which makes the suitable for use in many process apllications. The suitability for use in a particular process  pipe application is a function of the following factors:

  • Material type
  • Pipe composition and construction
  • Internal and external use conditions

PVC pipe will not be affected by typcal sewage effluent. In the event of any illegal discharge of chemicals then most chemicals are likely to attack the rubber ring ( common to all modern pipe systems) than the pVC pipe. Because of modern cpontrols on on sewage discharges PVC can be safely used on any municipal sewerage network including areas accepting industrial effluent
