The Plastics Industry in New Zealand employs over 8000 people in more than 400 enterprises. The majority of these enterprises are located in Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.

While there are a number of larger and better-known plastics companies, around 60% of firms in the industry employ less than 10 staff. The industry offers an opportunity for men and women to enjoy a career in a dynamic and exciting manufacturing environment that is enjoying substantial growth.

Many of the industry's products are leading edge and reflect the technological innovation of the industry and its employees. Entry to the industry is as a plastic processing employee, apprentice, or graduate.
