Generally  the flow in sewer pipes involves relatively low flow rates with increasing flows in storwater applications. The rate of abrasion in piping is proportional to the velocity , the flow  and the size and shape of the slurry particles.

Testing and the growing experience in the mining industry show that plastic pipes perform very well in abrasive situations
