As part of Plastics New Zealand's committment to the Packaging Accord and the Sustainability Initiative, the organisation commissioned a project to identify ways of improving recovery of plastics to help achieve the sector's recycling target.
The report includes: statisical analysis of plastic material types currently being collected in NZ; assessement of the current national infrastructure for recycling and alternative end-of-life options; key factors that may influence the recovery of plastic material; and recommendations on ways to improve national recovery.
The information from this report provides a platform for further research, and suggests key areas that need to be focussed on first.
