Commercial Film Recycling in NZ

Most people don't realise the biggest volume of plastic recycled in New Zealand is commercial plastic film or shrink and shroud wrap - this makes up 60% of plastic recycled here. Most businesses have products arriving wrapped in plastic film. Because it is usually clean it is a great material to recycle. LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE and PP films are the most commonly recycled.

The cost of putting rubbish into landfill is increasing. If you are putting your commercial plastic film into your skip think again - you could be using up that expensive space on something that is easily recycled. Contact Plastics New Zealand's commercial plastic recyclers commercial plastic recyclersto find out more.

Another important thing to think about: over the years the plastic manufacturers have reduced the thickness of the film to reduce the amount of plastic material used. Reducing the amount of raw materials used is the most efficient way of reducing waste. Less in the product means less potential rubbish. It also means products have become much lighter and compact so use less energy to move around in trucks, trains and planes.
