Industry Projects

Plastics New Zealand Incorporated gets involved with the community, helping to promote the 'think global, act local' message through practical initiatives.

  • Plastics New Zealand is facilitating an Environmental Best Practice programme. The programme started in Auckland with 12 companies and will expand to a total of 36 throughout NZ by the end of 2004. Each participating plastics company will complete an environmental project in addition to putting in place environmental monitoring, reporting and management systems. Summaries of completed projects will be available on this site from July 2004. We'll keep you posted.
  • Please contact Plastics New Zealand (info@plastics.org.nz), if you are interested in setting up any environmental projects in the plastics industry. Shell NZ has funding available for environmental projects within small to medium enterprises. For more information including terms & conditions click here.
  • Plastics New Zealand is working with the Environmental Risk Management Authority of New Zealand to establish non-hazardous materials used by the industry and to classify those that are hazardous. See the latest news on this project.
  • Plastics New Zealand is developing guidelines and standards for the use of degradable plastics in New Zealand. Contact us for more information.
  • Auckland Round the Bays - every year the New Zealand plastic industry donates 100,000 polystyrene cups for the Auckland Round the Bays running event. These are collected by volunteers and then recycled into coasters or coathangers. Go to www.roundthebays.co.nz for more information.
  • Boatie Bags - every year Plastics New Zealand provides rubbish bags to the yacht and boat clubs of New Zealand. Our message to boaties is to bring it back and get it sorted!  Boatie Bags launched - Carolyn Cox, Paul Collins (Chairman)  .
